Chipping of Branches
This a courtesy service provided by the Public Works Department.
Chipped material should not be tied or bundled. Stack it neatly at the curb. NO vines or items with roots / rootball, or large tree trunks or whole trees. The chipper can only chip items up to a 6″ diameter.
If you have any branches that you cannot wait for the chipping machine they can be picked up with trash, if they are tied and bundled, or in cans or boxes, and they must be 4 foot lengths or less.
The chipper goes out every other Monday of each month beginning in February and running though October. Although chipping starts on Monday, it may take multiple days to do the entire Borough.
If you have or are planning to remove a tree on your property, please note the Public Works Department will not be able to chip large quantities of branches. You should have large quantities removed by a professional service.
Leaves
Picked up in the Borough from November 1st through the month of December. Please rake the leaves into the street, or on the easement section adjacent to the curbside. You may also bag your leaves for pick up with your regular trash as well. The Borough has 2 leaf machines, each working a side of town.If the machine passes your property and you have not raked, it will not return until it repeats the work schedule. So please do not contact the Borough to have the machine return to your property. There are no special trips for leaf pick up!
Metal / Electronic Goods
Appliances, computers, televisions and all other electronics (anything with a plug) are picked up every Wednesday. Again the metal items should be placed at the curb on Tuesday for Wednesday pickup. Please note that if any concrete is attached to the metal, it will not be picked up. The Borough does not pick up concrete.
