Mayor’s Message

Dear Neighbors,

I hope you had a chance to read the special edition newsletter emailed on January 30th. Like many of you, I share your disappointment that the developer has been given 32 months to complete the project at the Laurel Mills Shopping Center. I know we’re all eager to see progress and meaningful redevelopment in our community.

Thank you so much for your patience during the recent snowstorm. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Department of Public Works, Fire Department, and Police Department for their careful planning and hard work to keep everyone safe. I also appreciate the neighbors who cleared their sidewalks, helping to ensure our children could safely get to and from school. With the heavy snow and ice, cleanup was no easy task.

Dumpster Permit

It seems there is some confusion related to the borough’s dumpster permit requirement.

Whenever a homeowner has a need to obtain a dumpster for excessive trash, debris, remodeling waste, etc. at their home, they should stop in or call the borough office and obtain an application to fill out, and then return the permit application. Thereafter, the application is reviewed, and if approved the resident pays the $25 fee

Stratford PD Information

Skimming Device Recovered
On Sunday July 6, 2025, the Stratford Police Department responded to the Family Dollar for a report of a found credit card skimming device attached to the registers credit card machine. The device was fashioned to fit over the store’s actual credit card scanning device. Based upon current information, we believe the device may have been in place for 2 weeks. Any customer who recently utilized the credit card machine at this location should consider the card compromised and are urged to contact their bank or credit card issuer to seek a replacement card. EBT / SNAP Cards are often targets for scammers since most of these cards are unchipped.

Single Stream Recycling

Camden County has a long history of leading recycling efforts in New Jersey. We were the first in the state to mandate recycling in 1985. The state followed suit and mandated recycling state-wide started in 1987.

In the past 10 years Camden County, like many other places, started Single Stream Recycling, where residents combine all recyclable materials into one container for pickup. Over the years there have been several important changes to what items are acceptable and unacceptable in Single Stream Recycling programs. Recycling is always growing, and in many ways markets around the world can have a profound effect on our day to day behaviors.
