Mayor & Council

Mayors Desk

From Mayor Linda Hall

This message is being delivered to our community, to reiterate prior announcements regarding ambulance services provided to Stratford Borough. Importantly the Mayor and Council are pleased to confirm that our EMS services are 100% funded by a private, non-government entity, known as the Stratford Ambulance Association Inc.

As you may recall, from prior editions of the Stratford Times, the corporate structure of the Stratford Ambulance Association Inc, has been in place since 1955. Some 67 years later, the operational aspect underwent some necessary changes.

Dumpster Permit

It seems there is some confusion related to the borough’s dumpster permit requirement.

Whenever a homeowner has a need to obtain a dumpster for excessive trash, debris, remodeling waste, etc. at their home, they should stop in or call the borough office and obtain an application to fill out, and then return the permit application. Thereafter, the application is reviewed, and if approved the resident pays the $25 fee

Leaf Collection

This notice is to inform you one of our two leaf machines is out of service. We will have it repaired as soon as possible.

The leaf collection process is completed where the team starts in the area behind Aldi and works its way across to the point behind the 30 Strikes Bowling. It then begins on the other side of the RR tracks, moving from Laurel Road towards Parkview Road. Once this cycle is completed, they repeat it. They will continue through December until all the leaves are collected. Any questions, please call the Borough Office, 856-783-0600.

If you have any questions, contact the borough hall.

Chipping

The chipper has been repaired and will be back out this week. We appreciate your patience with this inconvenience. The Trash and Recycling Team came to the rescue and has been collecting branches, which all goes to the same recycling facility as the chip material. Starting this week the Trash and Recycling Team is leaving the branches on the curb so the chipper machine will come around with the DPW Team.

If you have any questions, contact the borough hall.

Yard Waste Collection

We want to thank the residents for their assistance and understanding with the start of our yard waste collection initiative. One of the continuing issues is yard waste in plastic bags. Yard waste cannot be in plastic bags. We recommend you stop by Borough Hall to pick up a FREE red recycling can which you can use to place your yard waste in. We thank those residents who are using trash cans, brown biodegradable bags, and bundling yard waste. We will NOT be taking the bags in your regular trash collection.

Single Stream Recycling

Camden County has a long history of leading recycling efforts in New Jersey. We were the first in the state to mandate recycling in 1985. The state followed suit and mandated recycling state-wide started in 1987.

In the past 10 years Camden County, like many other places, started Single Stream Recycling, where residents combine all recyclable materials into one container for pickup. Over the years there have been several important changes to what items are acceptable and unacceptable in Single Stream Recycling programs. Recycling is always growing, and in many ways markets around the world can have a profound effect on our day to day behaviors.
